01

Official data, no estimates

All premiums come from the official open-data publications of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH, priminfo.admin.ch). No insurer pays for a better position – results are sorted by price only.

02

Why the comparison is free

The comparison and our service are free and non-binding for you. The service is financed by a brokerage commission from the insurer if a switch goes ahead through our intermediation. This has no effect on your premium: basic-insurance premiums are approved by the regulator – with or without a broker.

03

What happens after you submit

The team of Bartuma Solutions (FINMA intermediary register reg. no. F01574567) contacts you within 24 hours by phone or email, walks you through your result and – if you wish – handles the switch including the cancellation. No subscription, no obligation – your data is never sold or shared for advertising; we transmit it to an insurer only at your request.

05Why Franchiserechner

Why compare here

Health insurance is a matter of trust: it concerns your health, your data and several thousand francs in premiums every year. That is why we are open about how we work – and only promise what we can keep.

Personal conversation about a health insurance comparison
01

Honest results – even when you save nothing

The calculator only compares like with like: same deductible, same model, same accident cover. If your premium is already close to the cheapest offer, we tell you exactly that – instead of presenting an inflated savings figure. And if your entry looks implausible, you get help checking it rather than a fantasy number.

02

No wrong incentives in the ranking

Results are sorted by price only – the code has no other criterion. No insurer pays for a better position, and the intermediation compensation in basic insurance is capped industry-wide at CHF 70 per person: recommending you the wrong insurer simply does not pay for us.

03

People, not a call centre

Your enquiry goes to the team of Bartuma Solutions in Weiach ZH (commercial register of the Canton of Zurich, FINMA intermediary register reg. no. F01574567) – not to a call centre, and never into the address trade. Our team gets back to you within 24 hours and, if you wish, guides the whole switch including the cancellation.

04

Fast, free, no pressure

The comparison takes under a minute and is free and non-binding. Contact happens only if you request it – no subscription, no obligation, and your data is never sold or shared for advertising.

06FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Are the premiums in the calculator official?+

Yes. We use the official premium data from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), published each year on priminfo.admin.ch. The policy from your health insurer is always authoritative for the actual premium.

02Is the comparison really free?+

Yes, using the calculator and viewing the comparison are free and non-binding. There are no costs and you don't enter into any subscription.

03Which insurance is compared?+

Only compulsory basic insurance (KVG) is compared. Supplementary insurance is not part of the comparison, as it is assessed individually.

04How do I find the optimal deductible?+

For your profile, the calculator compares the total costs (premium plus co-payment) across all deductible levels and shows you the break-even point: the amount of annual healthcare costs above which a lower deductible pays off.

05What is the difference between the deductible and the co-payment?+

The deductible (Franchise) is the fixed annual amount you pay entirely yourself first (adults can choose from CHF 300 to 2500). The co-payment (Selbstbehalt) comes after that: 10 percent of further costs, legally capped at CHF 700 per year for adults and CHF 350 for children. For hospital stays, adults additionally pay CHF 15 per day.

06How much do I save with the family-doctor, HMO or Telmed model?+

The savings models cut the premium mostly by 10 to 25 percent versus the standard model with free choice of doctor, depending on insurer and region – with legally identical benefits. Which model is cheapest for you differs per insurer; the calculator compares all models in your region, and the guide explains the rules in detail.

07Can I switch health insurer at any time?+

You can switch your basic insurance at the end of each year: the cancellation must reach your previous insurer by 30 November – regardless of whether the premium was increased. With the ordinary deductible (CHF 300) and the standard model with free choice of doctor, you can additionally switch as of 30 June (cancellation must arrive by 31 March). Mid-year premium increases are a rare special case; supplementary insurance (VVG) has different, usually longer notice periods.

08Does the new insurer have to accept me?+

Yes. Basic insurance comes with an obligation to accept: every insurer must take you on at the same conditions regardless of age, state of health or pre-existing conditions – there is no health check. This sets basic insurance apart from supplementary insurance, where insurers may decline applications.

09Who is behind the Franchiserechner?+

The Franchiserechner is a service of Bartuma Solutions, based in Weiach ZH – entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich (UID CHE-445.522.610) and listed in FINMA's register of insurance intermediaries (reg. no. F01574567). Your enquiry is handled by our own team; it is never sold to call centres or third parties.

10What happens to my data?+

Your details are stored in a database in Zurich and used solely to handle your request – never sold and never shared with third parties for advertising. Technical service providers (hosting, database, e-mail delivery) process data only on our behalf; we transmit your application data to an insurer only if you request it. We record your consent with its wording and timestamp; you can withdraw it at any time. You can find the details in our privacy policy.
